    10 mph wot!!?

Took my 2000 STX900 out to the bay yesterday. Pulled away from the dock, noticed the ski was sluggish, but figured it had loaded up a bit (maybe pumped the primer too much) and I idled out of the wake zone. Once out the wake zone I opened her up, only to find that I peaked out at 35 mph....pumped the throttle....dropped down to 20 mph....did it again...fell to 10mph (wide open)...headed back to the dock and took it to a shop. What could this be?

The fuel was fresh! I've been running the ski this summer already, had just filled it up today.

The shop just called...said their was a seal missing on my flush kit...that water was probably spraying into the hull (into the carbs).....
They also said the plugs had to be replaced again....3rd set in 15 hours on this ski...

You say you have had it out but how much fuel was in it this winter and how long did you store it with the fuel in it. You probably are going through plugs because of the old fuel, if you can drain the tank and put it in you tow vehicle. It won't really be noticed there and start fresh with the ski. I would do that before even starting it again, check with the shop and see if you can come in a drain it before the plugs are installed and it is started up again. Did you take off you seat and see water in the hull?

Couldn't have been old fuel..I've been running this thing for months now..had just filled up the day that it started acting up (with High Octane).

We also had found a ton of stuff in the fuel filter...I thought it was white sand at first...but when you shook the filter..it acted more like a gel.

Wrench said he checked the fuel tank and didn't find anything like the white gel in the tank...I have no clue what this is....or where it came from...just had him replace the fuel filter...
Now I'm back up to 45 WOT...about 5 mph slower then before...but at least it's running consistent.

You said you took it out on the bay? White stuff in the fuel filter? Sounds like salt build up.
