03 XP DI hard to start
Hi guys, I took my XPDi out this weekend to the river and it was having a tough time starting. I would try cranking it and it would turn over and try and start and then stall out. If I tried to give it gas it only made it worse. If I let it sit for 10 seconds it would return to normal. Also when transition from over 4500 RPM's it would lag.
Anyone have any ideas? I did try new plugs, that did not help.

I would check your fuel pressure and make sure your filters are not plugged. There are also two strainers in the tank that can get restricted. One is external and one is located inside the module. Fuel pressure while starting is critical on fuel injection. If it's not on the money starting the bike will be hard if not impossible.

Yeah there are no codes being displayed. I actually have never had to work on the ski so I am having to learn as I go along. I have had it for 6 years and it has never had a problem.
What is the air pump used for?

http://seadoomanuals.net/manuals/2001-seadoo.php They don't offer a 2003 manual here but from a technical stand point you can read up on how things work.
The air compressor supplies the compressed air
required for fuel atomization in the air injector. It is
integrated with the engine and mechanically driven
by the counterbalance shaft. It also supplies the
air pressure required to operate the RAVE valves
When the piston reaches the correct position, the
MPEM opens the fuel injector and fuel is discharged
into a cavity inside the direct injector.
Next, the direct injector opens and the fuel is discharged
into the combustion chamber by the compressed
air which breaks the fuel up into a very
fine mist in the process. This air/fuel mixture is
then ignited by the spark plug.
