I Feel Such a Muppet Right Now

    Well

As some of u know i have been on a quest with my ski and had a few issue's im ashamed to say i think that most of them was caused by me

It wasnt till i asked a question recently regarding the plastic stoppers on the high speed carb screw until the penny dropped

Xlint told me they were removable covers once removed i was shocked, i had turned out the screws by 1 1/4 more than factory due to just spinning around the plastic caps thinking i had made the correct adjustments after the air filter lid mod

Well i feel like a right muppet now but im well excited about getting the ski out on sat now

I guess that explains y aint i needed a choke

    thanks again guys
    Neil

Just to clarify, you were 1 1/4 turns OUT MORE than factory settings???

That would cause you to run rich, and RPM would be down.

Let us know how it runs NOW....

    He's British.

3rd row from bottom far left. (his clothing looks somewhat British at least)

    Nah,
Check out the 2nd row from the top. Cliffy is either the Scotsman under the "S" or the chimney sweep looking bloke under the "W".

    Sorry to stereotype there Cliffy

Yeah, those carb adjustments can be real buggers some times. If you're too rich...oh well it just runs like crap. If you're too lean......boom there goes a piston. Been there, done that.

Your '97 should have the same HS and LS need settings on all 3 carbs. However, if you look at the specs, you will have a different HS jet in each of the carbs to accommodate the differences in fuel needs. My '96 is the opposite, I have the same jets in all 3 but the HS needle settings differ.

Good luck, and cheers to a great running ski.

Thanks Jkindt, your post gave me a good look at the muppet to which Xlint was referring.

There's no way that's Cliffy!!!!!! With the ruffled shirt collar, mustache, and tufted hair that dude is definitely FRENCH. That's an insult to our good friend from the UK.

A pint o' Guinness and an order of fish and chips all the way......none of this champagne, cheese, and butter drenched pastry crap in some quaint bistro across the channel !!!!!!

Nope, our pal's new avatar needs to be true to his roots! A real rough, ballsy looking fella that's ready to hit the water and get wild.

When I get home from work (about 12:00 AM your time) I'll look up the factory settings for your carbs and post them here. That should get things all set for you.

Cheers for the kind words KJ

The stock setting from the manual i have is

1/8 from a lightly seated position for the high speed

1 1/4 from a lightly seated position for the low speed

it should be 12-1300 RPM in the water

    but please do confirm though
