    Impeller Tork Specs

Hi guys, I have 2006 Yamaha VX 110 Sport. My wife sucked up a rock and bent the impeller. I ordered Solas Concord Impeller For 2005 Yamaha YH-CD 18/22 impeller and impeller tool. I just need the Tork Spec for the impeller.
    Thanks,
    Ed

an email or call to Solas is your best bet for that answer - it may or may not be the same as the torque spec in the service manual for the stock impeller.

Better yet, I want to see all hands for those that torque every impeller to a specific torque and what brand. impeller and ski that is for.

I tighten the impeller well and go. It's not a crank or cam bearing or head bolt

Skats generic Yamaha instructions say 45 ft lbs.
Some Solas instructions say 94 ft lbs and blue loctite

Also, what box end torque wrench is everyone going to have to do this?

    Guessing

I emailed Solas to get the specs. I just did not want the screw this up because it is $250.00 for the prop and I did not want it to fall off. Hell I would tighten it like a car tire by using my 1/2 inch airgun and keep turning until it stops. But, that is how you break things.....
45-90 lbs I can live with that.
If Solas ever gets back to me I will post the specs.

I torque mine with a good downward force on my 2' crescent wrench I never use loctite on an impeller! I always use Anti-seize. Even with this I have had several that required heat and a 4' cheater to break loose. Remember these are self tightening by nature, some of the worst ones I have done have been the conversion skis.

I have read some that say use grease OR anti-seize. Don't use grease, I had to pay a shop to remove the impeller that time and it just about welded to the washer.

use lots of anti seize. i took my skat off last weekend and the new gold spacer was stuck on the prop. i was able to pry it off with a mini bar.
    it was pressed on there.

    Talking The Final!!!

    From Solas:
We checked with our R&D department, for installation the torque spec will be 100 N.M.(Newton/Meter) if you want to install the impeller.
    Or 74 Foot Pounds.

    Thanks, everyone for help.

    Ed

PS Please, post this in Q&A for the next person.

Torque her on tight and she'll come off easier. Just pulled mine tonight and came off fairly easy but I torque them on tight.

I don't use a box-end torque wrench but my elbow is calibrated.
