    Water in the engine

Just open the power valve covers to check if they are OK.

There is water in there , and it looks like the water has been in there for awhile. The black goop turned kinda whitish.

I'm wondering how water get into there?

    Any idea?

Dude, when is the last time it's been in the water? If that water has been there for a while, you are going to be tearing that motor down.

Water in the power valves sounds like it might have come up through the exhaust; but if you clear the water out of the system every time you pull it out of the water, you shouldn't have any there.

I just bought it last Sunday.

Drove 2hrs there to pick it up and found out I didn't bring the pressure gauge with me, and his place in the middle of the corn field

Anyways, it started very easy, ran smooth.

From reading some threads, it seems like he ran hose thru it to flush without turn the engine on.

Yeah, that'll do it. In fact, that's how I met all of the great people here, in a way. Did the exact same thing, then my ski wouldn't run; got on the net and searched, found my way to the Riva forum, and then here later on when Jerry created the Green Hulk site.

First thing you need to do is get the water out of the motor. Then you will need to start figuring out if you have any rust or damage to the motor. I'm gonna let the gurus tell you what you need to look at, it's been a while since I've messed with water in the ski.
