    03 GTX with blown motor

Ok, so I just bought sight unseen a 2003 supercharged rxt. I'm going to head up to get it today.

The person selling the ski has the motor already out, and disassembled. He said that the bearings on the crank failed and went through the bottom of the case.

It may take me a while to source the parts I need to put this ski back together , but is there anything else I should be looking for when I go to rebuild?

I will know more about the ski after I get back in town after the weekend, but any thoughts?

    Thanks,
    Joe

Seems as though every cable is siezed. Everything else is there except the key and the front storage bin. They guy that I bought it from had bought it from someone else and never got around to this project. Ski registration ran out in 2009. And since registration is good for two years here in California, I have no idea how long it has sat?

I'm leaving out of town in the morning, but I'll get around to inspecting the motor next week.

Has anyone ever bought a motor from SBT?

If the motor is out, replace parts with 215 internals. Used is fine if the parts are in decent shape. Shibby is a good source.

I'm guessing I'm going to need a matching case set and crankshaft at a minimum.

What is the difference between the two motors (185 & 215)?

Wow! I really f$ck$d myself..... I didn't inspect the motor until today. Bob, the guy who sold me the ski said that the connecting rod went through the bottom of the case and that was it. Well, my bad for being in such a hurry and taking his word on it.

The #2 piston is GONE and destroyed the head and case!

I need a whole new motor. So much for fixing a ski for less than I could buy a used one for.....

So going back a few posts: Bob is not as reputable as he may seem. Yes, I should have checked everything before buying. But I was in a rush to get ready to leave town the next morning.

    Lesson learned, I hope....
