    sticking stearing cable

I have a waveventure that has a sticking stearing cable. It has not been in salt water. the cable has some kind of grease that is old and is stickey. How do I relube the cable and get the stickey off?
    Thank You

Use a ziplock bag and some wd40 or similar lube cut a corner off the bag just big enough to fit over the end of the steering cable. After you have the bag on the cable use some electrical tape to seal the bag to the cable. Fill the bag with the oil and let sit over night then try to move the cable. I saved two steering cables this way just make sure the lube is over the part where the cable slides in and out.
