Thread: Gp 1200 Premix

    Gp 1200 Premix

I have a guy rebuilding my 2000 gp1200 carbs and said i should just add a premix conversion kit.

What changes arise due to the conversion kit?
Is 50:1 the right ratio ?
Is yamahaalube 2-w oil ok to use?

He also suggested a primer kit but i rejected ($) , is it necassary to add it?

Do you NEED all that other stuff other then the block off plate? I found a new guy to rebuild my engine who has 3 Yamahas and does all of his own work, and he said while we rebuild the carbs we should just go premix so we are, but he said just to order the block off kit.

PV engines should be run 32:1 ...kev you sure about 40:1 on a "PV" engine? I believe the 800's, 1200's and 1300's factory inject at 32:1

We've been running 40:1 forever - it's the right ratio.

What do you recommend with running premix 40:1 on a stock engine?

Several good ones out there. I've been using Amsoil Dominator for 7 years.
