Thread: Wear Ring

Noticed today that I am missing a pretty good chunk of wear ring. Probably about 1" deep and about 1/4 of the way around.
Believe it or not I have no cavitation either....
Wondering if whenthe wear ring comes apart while riding will it tear anything up?
There is probably only a few more rides left in my season and wanted to wait until winter to do a ring.
What will happen if it comes totally apart while riding? I guess I'm worried most about the veins of the pump.....

If you keep using it like that it can leave burn marks in your impeller,it happen to me with my rxp, thats when I had to put a new one(14/19 solas).

Could collapse to the inside and definitely do some damage to the prop..expect a repitch job or new prop...you will lose rpm's then unless it can pass out without a lot of damage...That's really risky...your machine cost too much to repair to make rash and impulsive decisons just to be able to get in another ride!!

for such an easy fix, it's not worth it to wait.

I agree, I pulled it already. Now I just have to pick one up.
I just really didn't want to pull the pump apart yet if I didn't need to.
The ring was REALLY shot. There were sections torn down to the white plastic. It had 98 hours on it.....

It seems to be ok. Nothing out of the ordinary of the normal bumps and nicks, nothing bent up and no burn marks. I should have the ring today and installed tomorrow. We're hopefully riding Friday. It's only supposed to be in the 60's though...
I think I might look for a neoprene hood....
