    1300 Still has High RPMs

I have been working on repitching my prop with the cooler weather. We started with a 23 pitch and currently at a 25 pitch. Speedfreaks has been doing the bending. Here are my speeds are corresponding rpms.

    23 pitch - 74.3: 7250
    24 pitch: 75.0: 7240
    25 pitch: 75.6: 7230

I am happy that I am picking up speed, but can't help but wonder if the cooler weather and low humidity has had a hand in this. Do you think that I should keep pitching up, or should I wait until next spring to see if I still have the same numbers? This is with a 1200 grate. Thanks.

Do you remember the temps for each of those speeds and RPM's above? I gain about 120 RPM dropping from 90 to 55 degrees. I'm guessing that the 25 pitch will be good all around.

hello purlpe haze, You can still pitch up because your rpm's are high you want to be about 7150 to 7180 rpm's and your rpm's will still go higher with the cooler water and air. But the only problem you will have is when summer comes you will need another impeller because your rpm's will be to low, the best thing to do is have two impellers one for hot weather and one for cold weather.

Thanks for your input. Jim - I've been extremely happy with your ride plate and trim tabs. A really stable ride!

I know you are right - I need to have two props. Would you go up a full pitch or go to 25 1/2?

Just ran 76.0 @ 7240. I hope that I don't lose any speed when I pitch higher. Only a few more runs this season. Although, May and part of June should have some cool weather.
