Whats the first choice regardless of price? And first choice on a budget?

I had a Riva Gen1 that clogged ... I bought an XS intercooler and with a little wiggling and some adjusting, I used the Riva bracket, IC pipes, etc. I think I did have to buy two 3" to 2.75" adapters to go from the larger air inlet/outlet to the IC tubing, but that was it. Fitted it up, then tightened up the IC hoses, then anchored it with the bungies on the Riva bracket. Very close to direct replacement ...

Thanks Vern that's what I was wanting to hear. Would you say the performance is the same?

I think so ... maybe better, since the Gen1 clogs so easily. The XS you want is the one that is slightly larger than the Riva you are replacing ... the XS has 3" in/outs while the Riva is slightly smaller, like 2.75" I think. You can find XS style ICs all over EBay, or at www.siliconeintakes.com and I think is the same one as sold by JFizzle online too, altho you only need the IC and two 3" to 2.75" silicone couplers, not much else.

Here's the direct replacement for the riva gen1. It has 2.5 I/O & the same dimensions as the riva so it drops right in the bracket. You will need to re route a hose to reach to the rear of the IC is all.

It's also a larger IC too. Type 3 is what most of us use, i've used it for years, but if you aren't going big on boost & want a direct replacement without messing around, go type 9
