I think my SC washer’s gone and I rode the ski for some time, am I screwed?

    Hi guys,

Today I went for what was supposed to be the last ride of the season even before this happened. I have an -05 RXP bone stock with 37h on it. From the beginning everything was fine and the ski performed like normal. Then I went cruising at maybe 50% throttle for some 8-10 minutes or so and after that when I gave it WOT again it felt almost like running on the learning key. I got close to 7k rpms but there is no punch in it. It ran smooth, no strange sounds, no warnings, no error codes no nothing, just no power. This sounds exactly like the symptoms other riders on here has described when their SC washers are gone. My problem was that since I was just cruising for all that time I never noticed exactly when this happened. In worst case I might have run it for as long as 10 minutes after they went.

So now, what do I need to do? I have no warranty and my intentions were to sell it next season and probably go for an -07 model, thanks for any input.

    Cheers,

    RXP-Swe, Welcome to the forum...
well 10 min is def enough time to send the ceramic pieces thru the oiling system, but I don`t think anything catastrophic happened yet. If you were going to keep the ski I would def have the screens cleaned out at minimum.

wow, 37 hours and the SC went out... yeah thats totally possible...

Do you hear any SC whine or did it stop when you noticed lack of performance. From what I understand you would be able to reach 6800-7000 RPM`s without the SC, that`s about it.
It was running 8100 before that?

you have a decision to make, fix it or trade it in as is...good luck...PR...

Here in NewZealand Seadoo are are repairing 04 ski`s under "goodwill warranty" as they like to call it. We have pretty good consumer protection laws here and as the s/c clutch failures are a recoginised worldwide fault Seadoo have no choice but to come to the party. The're not advertising it and you have to push them to get it but they know that if it went to Court they woudn't stand a chance.
