What came out of my crankcase ??
On my 96 700slt I stuck a magnet in to the crankcase and pulled out all kinds of metal shavings and chunks of steel. NOT GOOD. There is some blue heat damage that i can see on the polished part of the crank between the pistons. I have not pulled the engine out I've only pulled of the cylinders Is this a part of a bearing??

At this point it doesn't matter. You are going to have to rebuild anyway. But yes it probably is

By the size that I can see,I'd guess a needle from a main bearing, I'd say time to break the engine down and do some checking further.

Like keddano said it looks like you had catastrophic bearing failure. rebuild time
