717 pto and fly wheel removal

I got my motor down to splitting the case but I need to pull the pto and fly wheel I put a puller on the flywheel last night but it wouldnt budge I smacked the puller a couple times but no joy. I was going to give it a little heat with the torch but I thought Id ask y'all first. Also I havent tackeled the pto yet the book shows a special tool or pipe wrench I dont have the tool does the pto need to be haeted to break the locktite? Im asuming by looking at the bool its ccw to remove.
    thanks

I learned it's easier to remove them before taking off the cylinders. putting some rope down the spark plug holes to kind of lock the pistons in place. I had a dealer remove my flywheel. I had to stick my crank in a vise and use a pipe wrench to remove my PTO flywheel.
