    sl650 dont know where to look, at end of rope.

    starting from beginning, had ski out and was running fine then had black wire from stator to electronic box melt, didnt burn wire just insulation and quit running and starter wouldnt turn over, then had short when cable was touched to battery (blue spark). i replaced stator and entire electronic box (ebay) and now no short and starter turns over great, my problem is wont start, no fire to spark plugs now. i'm not up on checking ohms and such but i can pull and replace about anything on it i feel. while replacing black wire i went ahead and blocked off oil pump and plan to mix my oil in gas. any help will be greatly appreciated, there are no mechanics in my immediate area. this is a 1994 model.

    Stator & e-box off of e-bay? I wouldnt assume they are good . Yor going to have to test circuit. Do you have decent tester & manual to get numbers from?

    dont have a decent tester nor would i know where to start testing. guess i need to just find someone somewhere.

    Im not good with electronics either ! Some times a professional needs to get invovled. If you have the money to send it to shop & dont mind. I would say let a pro tackle this one

    First, how good is the battery?

    Is the lanyard installed?

    Double check all connections inside the elec box. Also making sure the ground wire loops from 1 side of the box (coil hold down barcket) to the other (ground terminal block)

    Was the Ebay purchase from another 650?

    Try disconnecting the kill switch from the elec board. Kill the engine by choking it until it stalls.

    You're going to have to get an elec multi tester. Ohm testing the stator and coils is easy....

    battery is new, and yes everything came from 650, but i think the eletronic box came from a ski with trim on it because it had some extra wires that the orginal didnt have so i made sure each wire went to correct place inside box. i may try swapping cdi from old box and see what happens. if no success i will take it to a pro.

    What's the number stamped on the CDI box?

    650 didn't come with trim, but 750's did.

    650 and 750 elec parts aren't compatible.
