    carb swap '95 SL750

I am planning on swapping out the original blue carbs for a set of black carbs off a '96 SLT780. I also have intake manifold and throttle/choke cables. I have been told this is a good reliability upgrade but am curious about jetting and screw settings. Any advise?

    Thanks
    Alan

This can be a very good upgrade, espeecially if you have the 780 reed stuffers and spacer blocks.

They are both Mikuni SBN 38 carbs, so there are no functional differences in the body itself. As you'll note, the primary differences are in oil location, fuel supply routing, and return orifice.

On the 750, the oil feeds into the intake where on the 780 there is a nipple on the carb and it mixes with the fuel.

The fuel plates on the 780 carbs are set up for the 3-outlet fuel pump. On the 750 carbs you have to plug 2 of the fittings when doing the triple pump upgrade.

The final difference is the 750 requires the brass return line restrictor be secured in the hose. The 780 has the restrictor orifice built in to the MAG carb.

When making the change, put the low and high speed jets from your 750 into the 780 carbs and then adjust the HS and LS needles to the factory settings for the '95 750. You should be ready roll after this!!

Do you mean the 3 brass fittings on the black F/A support? I just took off a set of carbs on a slt 750 today and seen the oil lines coneccted to the black base support.. just curious what ya meant by intake? the intake in under the carbs.
