    FZS mirror plastic or glass?

are the mirrors on the FZS/FZR actually glass, or is the reflective portion just some sort of plastic coating?

i want to mount a boost gauge in one of the mirrors but want to know what i am up against before i order a spare part.

Not having seen one up close, I'd guess it would fairly simple to remove the glass entierly and possibly replace with a piece of abs with your guage mounted in it. Just a thought.

A round hole in glass is the easiest hole to cut. Take it to a glass shop and as long as it isnt tempered it will cut fine. If its tempered I dont think it can be cut successfully. Let us know how it turns out.

its no hole. i measured the digital screen of the innovative wideband i was installing, then marked the back of the mirror. then i just sanded off the reflective coating, i had to re polish the clear plastic.

i didnt want to cut a hole and mount the gauge b/c then the gauge will get wet, the way i did mine its totaly water tight behind the mirror.
