Should I be worried, Impeller Oil

First got to say thanks to those that have been halping get my seadoo back up and going for this up comming year.

Last year I had the guts of my impeller replaced and they put new oil in it. I had to do this because the guy that had it before me let the oil leak out and he melted the impeller shaft. Should I worry about checking that oil every year?

Do you do it? and if so how would I know if its low or not?

If I'm not mistaken, there is a small plug that can be taken out with an allen wrench. By taking that out will the old oil drain by itself?

When filling it back up, how do I know when its full?

I don't mean to make you spell it out for me but...

Take the cone off - drain oil though...? - reinstall cone - fill through allen set scew
Is that about how it should go?

Airborne, even though you don't change the impeller oil, do you check it at least?

It was recommended to me by several people here and friends I ride with to do it at the end of season while prepping it for storage. Use the proper sealants and loctite. If something happens and water gets in then it's not sitting around in your pump all winter. You then have all winter to get it fixed rather than trying to do it when it's time to ride. You fill it to just the bottom of the hole. With the oil only running about 14 bucks (purchased from dealer) it's cheap insurance. IMO.

theres probably 8-12 oz of oil...roughly...

    right guys?

my chain case on sled only takes 10oz

PS. to check it youll be doing all the same work, so why not just drain n change....takes an additional 2 minutes

You won't use the whole bottle. There will be a little left over. Yeah the difference in checking vs. changing...... 3 bolts for the cone.

when the cone comes off you better have a tin can handy cause once the come comes off the oil comes out.

but yes you have the idea correct...the only way to check it is ti take the cone off and refill it
