Power loss on MSX150, any ideas ?
My brother was riding his MSX150 and gave me this report, I'm dreading the Turbo failure, but maybe its something else:
Here is thre report he texted me from the lake:
Was riding and after only 5 minutes started to hear a high pitch sound or whirl
from engine on MSX 150, 130 engine hours.
Looked under seat, no water or smoke. Pulled in and let it sit for 10 minutes,
restarted fine, still heard high pitched whirl, sounded like it can from up
front, under glove box, gave it gas and power was down. Speed below 30 max,
normally up to 60. No check engine lights.
Max rpm kept dropping by 50, turbo gauge only went up to half or below.
Still runs fine, no smoke or knocks, changed oil, no help

check your hoses you might just have a hose blown off and needs to be reattached. The hose clamps do loosen up after time and should be checked periodically. Also check that there are no tears or rips in the hoses. If all is well there is a intake manifold mount the is know for loosening up the clamp and or tearing partially. check the obvious first and then go from there. Also check that the blow off valve is not leaking by of the the hose is torn or loose.
I hope this helps. Let us know what you find.

Thanks for the tips so far ... Keep em coming
I found no loose hoses or leaks, still sounds high pitched, used to sound lower pitched and I have no idea on what to do next
Still runs and starts without problem

Kosh on another thread advised this:
Sounds like your turbo is not spinning. Quick check, remove the turbo to intercooler hose, at idle it will be a powerful as a good hair dryer.
Check the temp sender on the exhaust manifold as well.
PS, not sure I am liking this new format for the website guys !!

Blew it Up
Dealer said they couldn't work on it in TN ...
Tried to drive it and look under the seat for loose hoses, leaks, etc ...
It blew === smoke and oil started coming out the exhaust !!!
Needs a rebuild now I guess ?
