Slx 1200 Oil pump block off

Where can I get one? Do I pull the lines off the carb completly or cut and cap them?

    Welcome

Is there a problem with your oil pump?

Not a problem but found it loose (missing a bolt, which I now need if anyone knows the size) so I was just weighing my options. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

If the oil pump was actually loose or flexing, make sure the plastic drive piece behind the oil pump is still in good shape.

You would have to remove the oil pump to check that, so you can then match up the bolt at a hardware supplier.

Upon further investigation, the reason the bolt was missing is because the threads are stripped out on the flywheel/stator cover. So I'm thinking that going pre-mix would be the best option? If not how hard would it be to tap new threads? Would I have to remove the cover first?

I would remove the flywheel cover to work on it.

If you pre-mix, you will use about twice the 2-stroke oil as repairing and running the oil pump system. Cost of the extra oil over the next few years?

You can purchase a good used cover from a number of sources, if you cannot repair the existing cover.

I went ahead and pulled the cover and re tapped the oil pump holes to the next biggest size. Is there a way to test the oil pump without the engine running?

You can rig up something to drive the oil pump shaft from an electric drill.

Run the drill backwards, and it should pump oil. Keep in mind it is not a high volume pump.

Will it pump oil with the plugs pulled and on the starter alone?

    Not enough to measure.

Remember, at idle RPM (around 1300RPM), the oil pump is pumping almost no oil since the engine doesn't need much.

At cranking RPM, you would be pumping even less oil.
