    Exclamation MPEM fried?????

took my 96 xp out yesterday, evadently i forgot to tighten the spark plugs down so i heard compression leaking when i started it up and started to head out......i tightned the spark plugs down and tried to start it and it started missing then it started back firing whenever i tried to give it throttle.
then it got to where it wouldnt even start at all....i stopped getting fire.

i trimmed the plug wires back.......didnt help
    replaced the plug wires................didnt help
i cleaned all the ground wires in the rear black box.......didnt help

every once in a while you will see a very very little spark on the plugs

i took a test light and put it in the white wire going from the mpem to the back of the coil, when i turn it over the light comes on. so im thinking i just fried the coil since the spark plugs werent tight and grounded good??????

a 15 year pwc tech tells me its the mpem but i think since im still getting current to the coil then it isnt the mpem??????? and way to further test the coil? i just wanna make sure it sint the mpem before a but a new coil....i hope it isnt the mpem

Could have water ingress into the mag end of the motor.

Corrosion plays havoc with the sensor coil in there, especially if corrosion sets in.
