    Timing And Chain

I read threw some of the previos post on this issue and didn't see any that answered my question.

The chain tensioner once installed it makes the chain very tight. with no load on the chain it has about a 1/4" of play. Does this seem correct?

Second questions has to do with valve sequence. With the #3 cylinder at TDC and the timing set like in the pictures below. when you rotate the motor the fly wheel clockwise. It seems to open the exaust valves first. does this sound right. Just rather be safe that sorry.

    Thanks,

with #3 cyl (front of ski) @ TDC and the cam locked, and the crank locked u should be fine as long as the #'s 1503 are level with the head.

the chain tension sounds right, and not really sure what valve opens first when u spin it clockwise.

Thanks for the input. the more i thought about the valves opening correctly. It has to be right. something just seems funny, any other input on this would be appreciated.

I have always believed the best way to learn something. Is to jump in and do it. I just don't want to run the risk of a 2 grand repair.

You need to get rid of those 04-05 flywheel bolts before you put the PTO cover back on... if you haven't already

I actually planned to do this. I just wanted to make sure about those timing questions before I moved on. Does anyone know the valve sequesnce?

    Thanks,
Just noticed this on this post. You are turning the crank the wrong way. Should turn it counter clockwise, not clockwise. This viewing from the second picture, back.
