    Top end bog/surge

So ive been stumped to figure out what the hell is wrong with my stocker 96 XP. It would run like a champ for about 1/2 mile at WOT then act like the fuel was leaning out. well I did a plug chop and everything is copacetic. so ive been staring at it for a couple hours. fuel system was changed, filters cleaned and checked again, water separator was clean and full. so fuel was there and my spark is good. well i start to pull the raves to see if they have gummed up since I cleaned them last and found that the exhaust manifold is leaking just under the rave cap on the PTO cylinder...could this be a cause of a bog? I would assume so but I dont have a lean runaway on the trailer and idles fine...this is the only thing that i can find wrong cause everything else is either new or cleaned.

I wish I had answers for you, but you always them for me.. I do however have a question.. When you say "lean runaway on the trailer) what does that mean? If I start mine on the trailer it will idle for about 10 seconds then slowly peg itself wide open. I was under the impression this was "normal" since there is no water to pump and resist. Am I missing something here?

a "lean run away" or 'glow plugging" is when your ski redlines and wont shut off when you pull the lanyard. only way to kill it its to WOT and pull the choke. if you ski is on the trailer it should be running a constant 3000 rpm and 1500 in the water at idle.

if you are experiencing this you need to read the DIY fuel system

Sounds silly, but is the air vent to the tank blocked or restricted?

you either have to have an ear for it or buy a "tiny tach"

I doubt it but its worth a check. its strange cause I can let off the throttle for a split second and its back at WOT. im betting on my exhaust manifold gasket.

fixed the leak...changed the rave gaskets ect. still the problem persists. carb screens are clear, new n/s, I dont get it. its not a wear ring problem,or pump leak, I thought that itmight have been the intake grate but thats not it either. The only thing that I havent done is clean the ground posts and change the ground wire
