    Pushing out crank seals

Ive got a 99 gp 1200 npv it has 120 psi comp I just redone the carbs runs fine. Ive been fighting it pushing out the rear crank seals, 3 times now I have built alot of motors but never had this problem before. From what I can tell its not having any backfiring issues. Any thoughts?

Is the seal a press-fit type?

    Is it an OEM seal?

Do you clean the seal outer shell and where it installs in the case spotless? I use Gum Cutter, no residue this way.

I also put like 3-4 drops Blue Loctite on the outer seal shell, wipe it around, and then install. (old trick from auto-trans pump seals)

If the engine is not backfiring, then something is either wrong with the seal, install method, or way too much blow-by (which I doubt on a 2stroke lol)

I use oem seals and clean it with laker thinner and use a 3m sealer.

Measure the ID of the case opening and the OD of the seal. Make sure the seal is at least .0005 larger. .001 would allow a better "crush".

Try Loctite as it will "lock" it in

Sounds like your crank is bad if your sure your sealing in the crank seals good and your 100% sure you put the seals in properly. Most folks always put these in backwards when reinstalling the crank to the cases. If you did put them by accident in backwards it will do just as your stating.
