Where can I find No Longer available parts, like exhaust gaskets, etc.?

Doing a repair on a friends 99 SLX 1050. I need an exhaust gasket and a right side mirror for example. Does anybody know where I might find these parts?

There is no single source for all Polaris PWC parts.

New parts are available from any of the online Polaris watercraft OEM parts sources, and some dealers.

If you know the part numbers you need, even non-watercraft Polaris dealers may order the parts for you.

Used Polaris parts are available from an array of sources, including the Classifieds on GH and people like John Zigler.

Aftermarket parts are also available, including gaskets.

There is eBay, which for some things is an excellent channel.

In some cases, there are substitute parts that can be used from other brands or sources. Some Sea-Doo, Kawasaki and Yamaha parts, for example.

LOL, that's a good one. You had me going for a second there. Try looking online for Dealers who sell Polaris PWC parts. Like Babbits, partsland and some other places. Most Polaris parts dealers will laugh at you and say sorry we are not a watercraft dealer. There are a quite a few places with online micro fiche you just have too look for them.

Maybe some of you might know where I can get the gasket that goes between the exhaust manifold and the expansion pipe for a 99 SLX 1050, or is there a way that you can reuse this gasket? I'm also looking for a right side mirror for this same unit. Any suggestions that might help narrow my search or make it less painful?

How many you want? I have these cometic gaskets that fit 900,1050,1200. I can sandwich them between cardboard and put them in a padded envelope and ship them for $5.00 each plus whatever actual shipping is.

Are these an acceptable quality replacement? This is not my ski so I don't want to be responsible for screwing something up. Hope this isn't an offensive question.

SORRY about the post earlier K, but I have been dying to bust out the Gary Coleman. Your hard work is greatly appreciated

THEY WILL NOT! If the part crosses over to something else they will. I was unable to get parts from the dealers around here that way because they are not personal watercraft dealers, but I did get me a brand new oil pump and gears for my 96 SLX because they cross over and are the same exact parts on a Fuji snowmobile engine.

Part of my problem is that I can't find the part #'s. The numbers have been blanked out on all the online sites and say no longer available or something like that. How do I get the part number in that case?

By the way 1FASTXC, hope I didn't offend just want to know as much as I can about those cometic gaskets since I know absolutely nothing about them. I've always used OEM stuff when possible so I was hoping you or somebody could give me more info on cometic gaskets.

Thanks to all for your help!!

Cometic is the #1 aftermarket gasket company in the powersports industry IMPO. They sell complete gasket kits for most all powersports and their kits are included in Wiseco piston kits. I was just poking around on the parts microfiche to check it out for you and the OEM gasket for your ski is still available from polaris. For some stupid ass reason when you look it up under exhaust, it says no longer available. You need to look under "engine mounting" and it's there. Part number is 5830051 and price is $24.56 each. You should be able to get it at any polaris dealer.

That is weird Nut. It must just be the dealers, because obviously none of them can be polaris watercraft dealers anymore, but ANY polaris dealer can get parts for watercrafts. The only reason i could see why they would tell you that would maybe be that they don't have the partsmart system anymore for watercraft and are unable to look up parts. If you go into the polaris dealership with a part number they should be able to order it for you if it's a valid part number. My local dealers never had any problems getting watercraft parts from polaris as long as they're still valid and available.
