need to do top end on gsxl 951 few ??

so i got the motor out and apart, mag side piston detonated due to broken exhaust bolts. anyway, found a piston kit, and a machine shop that will bore/hone the cyls .

now my questions. what is the stock bore size? the top end is a sbt so guessing it waS DONE BEFORE but wanna make sure its the stock bore so i know what pistons to order.

some one said that i have to get the rave vales redone so that htey done hit the bigger piston?

also the head has slight pitting, can the shop fix this?

anything else i need to know?

Post pics of the damaged head. There is only one oversize so if you go over that then I would agree that the raves need to be machined. There is probably a whole list of things to do. Krunch (see link) and many others can probably give you more info than I . http://www.greenhulk.net/forums/memb...chovXPL-GTX-RX PS they will all tell you SBT sucks

    From the manual
    Standard 88 mm (3.465 in)
First oversize 88.25 mm (3.474 in)
    Second oversize Not applicable

    BORING PRECAUTION
In its stock configuration the RAVE valve guillotine
has a minimum of 0.5 mm (.020 in) clearance to
the cylinder bore measured at the center line of
the cylinder. This is the minimum production
    clearance.
There is only a first oversize piston available for
the 787 and 947 engines. That piston is 0.25 mm
(.010 in) larger in diameter than the stock piston.
When the oversize is installed, the guillotine will
have a minimum clearance of 0.375 mm (.015 in)
with the cylinder bore. This is the minimum operating
clearance the guillotine should be used with.
Clearance less than 0.375 mm (.015 in) will require
reworking of the guillotine to achieve the
    proper clearance and radius.
