Finally 99% ready to fish!
towed the ski to Van Isle for the first WCVI fishing trip with the boys and had a fabricator make an aluminum basket for a cooler to slap on the back of the ski. Was hoping to do some fishing off the ski but stepped on a big nail the day before ; been walking that path beside the garage for days; where the heck did that nail come from ?!.
the "basket" turned out darn good IMO , but cost more than anticipated. I guess that happens when you do a one off design. it's mainly made from 1/4" x 2" flat bar stock alum. and powder coated white. its "lashed" down using SS turnbuckles and hardware. This sucka isn't going anywhere when it's locked down and it only takes 2 minutes to install or remove and leaves no traces when removed. The fabricator did a nice job on the welds and the cooler is snug.
it was mainly my design (inspired from many of you guys here on the hulk!) with some nice mods from the fabricator.
I began with planning for a 50'ish Qt cooler, but darn those things are tiny!
I slapped a 100 Qt cooler and it fit with room to spare to that's what i went with (especially since i had 3 100 Qt coolers at home that i could already choose from).
now i have to wait a whole month before i go back to the coast to do some fishing
