how to prime oil system again? sorry ha

i know ive passed over this subject a couple times, but didnt really read it till now that i need to know.

I just got done doing the whole DYI fuel system on my buddies 96xp. I found this ski for him, so anything that goes wrong he points the finger at me.

well got it out on water.

started right up and sounded good, brought out my 97xp as well

The 96 seemed to be dogging it, cause 97 was cruzin 10mph faster.

i pulled seat while riding and noticed no oil feeding thro the oil lines. I took ski right to shore and pulled out of water.

Compression was still 150psi both cylinders, thankfully lol.

but how do i test to see if oil pump is bad or how to prime it?

should i just remove to check? i have an extra pump anyways...

sorry for anothe lame NOOB thread, but you hopefully only have to tell me once

As far as bleeding there is a bleed screw on the pump somewhere then after you get oil to the pump and all the air out if the lines to the engine still have air run engine at idle while holding the oil pump linkage in the wot position.

the pumps hardly fail, is the filter that gets clogged, a bit of moisture or water inside that reservoir and there will be trouble, ever try mixing 2 stroke oil with water?. It becomes like wax

ill check if its not passing filter.

cause there doesnt appear to be a drop coming through lines from pump to carbs

run it premix and ride it and enjoy! dont worry it should prime itself if its working properly,
mix it 40:1 and ride it to be safe and then check it.

    yea thats easy enough

but this will be my buddies ski, and he barely understands how to start it let alone premix....

im thinking about trading him my 97xp for his 96xp...

i dont care for how the 97 rides...
