    Reinstalling Jet pump

    I had the pump off my SL650 and since reinstalling it I am getting water in my hull. Do I need to seal the cooling water inlet to the hull with silicone when reinstalling? I am also going to check to make sure I didnt damage the drive shaft seals.

    sealing the cooling water inlet with silicone will present a much larger problem then some water leaking into the hull

    depending on the vintage you need to make sure the thru hull fitting is secure and the driveline seal is in good shape too.

    Did you remove the pump base, which is sealed directly to the hull?

    If so, why?

    Did not remove the pump base. just the 4 long bolts and pulled the pump out. I was just trying to find the source of the leak since i didnt have one before I removed the pump.

    Do you know where the water is coming in?

    Tip: If you leave the hull strapped to the trailer front and rear, and back it down the launch ramp, you can leave the seat off to find the leak.

    Some leaks only happen when the engine is running. Backed down the launch ramp until the jet pump intake is fully submerged, you can run the engine as long as you need to find the leak.

    Take a small mirror with you, helps to see under the drive shaft area.

    When you had the jet pump off (and the drive shaft removed) did you replace the seals in the through-hull bearing?

    I have the unit with the non replaceable seals. Is there any way to replace the seals in this one or do I have to get a whole new assembly?

    If the seals are crimped in place, then it is easier to just buy a good used through-hull of the rebuildable design, and put new seals in it.

    Or you can buy a new bearing assembly, which will come with the new seals.

    You can find used parts in the Greenhulk Poalris Classifieds, or from these sources;
