    Rivets and other fastners

does anyone have any suggestion for a source for stainless steel or alum. rivets or some other type of fastner for re-installing side rub rails on a Polaris??? I have looked around and found a few places but Im not sure who would be the best to buy from. Every where I have been locally has not had anything in 1/4 or .25 diameter which is what appears to be needed for this application. I have removed all my rub rails so I could really clean this ski up. Then after they were off I decided to sand it down and repaint from the rub rail up. Now all that is done and now its time to put everything back together so I can get back on the water.

    thanks for any advice guys,
    Jared

Ace Hardware has a bunch of aluminum rivets. I have boxes of them.

    thanks guys

thanks Kevin and also to Hydrotoys. I forgot all about Mcmaster Carr. Those guys are awesome and have about anything in the world. I bought some sound proofing for my car and truck both from Mcmaster that is just like dyno matt for about a fifth of the cost. Sure makes a difference on how the stereo system sounds and also cuts out allot of road noise if its installed correctly.

    thanks again guys,
    Jared

This. I ordered a few from Polaris and then took one to ace and found an exact match. About $10 for a box of 50 vs. .60 each from polaris.

I just had to repair my to rear corner rub rails. I decided not to use rivets at all even though I have them. I ended up using plastic expandable inserts with stainless steel machine screws. It is a better hold and easier to remove at a later date if necessary.

This sounds like A great idea. Do you have any details of the hardware you used? and do you think it would work for all the rub rails? I want to install A new splash deflector on my pro, and doing this means removing the front and side rub rails. Thanks RiZ

Let me see if I can take a pic of the screw and inserts I used. They are used as wall anchors but figured since they were made of plastic all I would need is a stainless screw with a head small enough to fit in there. I found some in my can that were just right. It really holds tight. I didn't think it was going to work as well as it did. Give me a minute to see if I have any I can take a picture of here. I am sorry about the pic. I can't figure this camera out.

Anytime. The hole caps for the rail fit in there perfectly with the screw in there by the way.
