another cracked FZR
went out friday and it was fine, went out saturday and it was fine, went out sunday and put my plugs in and took my tie downs off off when i seen the crack...its on the left rear of the hull with no point of contact. called and went to the dealer monday(deptford yamaha nj) he took pics sent it to Y.E.S. to ask if its a warranty issue.. got a phone call today and the rep. from the warranty company(Y.E.S.) said so far it looks like its from wave jumping.. which he has said is a proven fact in all cases they have came across. not as a definate no the top dog is supose to call me tomorrow mid day and see what they can do for me.. now on the topic of WAVE JUMPING.. i live in NJ the waves are not hawaii! and either wave your trying to tell me that a WAVE RUNNER can not go across waves?... Can someone else shed light on the subject? no i don't use a ratchet strap(use a single old tie down) ...
what should be done? it hasn't been a year yet(AUG 18, 2009) has 43 hours on it, i live in jersey so my seasons are limited, and either way whats the point of purchasing a extended warranty (5 years total) for dam near $1000 extra if its crap?>?>?>?
than i hear of another case and there sent a brand new ski to hush them up and not bring it to the public?!
the dealer is telling me good luck on a new ski, doughts they will buck up for a new hull and labor, best they could probably do is a patch job...F that
im just curious what you would do

Did you remove the foam pieces that cover the air intake vents?

06-30-2010, 03:03 PM #7Jerry's post from another thread. Just trying to narrow things down....
Remove the foam pieces inside the front hood. They can suck in and block off the opening. When this happens the hull will suck in and crack!
The pieces look like this

i really think the crack is nothing you guys are going i.e jumping/trailerin, this problem i think lays in how hard they ratchet them down in crate when shipping them out to dealer, if indeed it was wave jumping i think we would see more of these not just half a dozen
