    Modified Intake Grate! <PICS>

For those who are interested, I know this has been talked about before, but here is what I did to modify the grate on my 2004 Honda Aquatrax R12X.....

1- Unbolt the 4 bolts holding on the intake grate.
2- Use a razor blade to cut the silicone caulk around the intake grate.
3- Use tie down straps connecting the frame of the trailer to the grate, tightening the ratchet straps until it breaks the grate free. Start by prying the rearend side down first, there is a nub towards the front that will prevent it from pulling straight down.
4- Place intake grate into vice.
5- Using a saw zaw w/ fine metal blade, cut out the 2nd and 4th grates. I cut them at angles to get as much of the grate out as possible (this will eliminate a lot of filing later).
6- Using a metal file, file away the metal so everything is smoothed down.
7- I found that a wire wheel on a bench grinder works GREAT for removing the old silicone on the grate.

I chose to remove the 2 & 4 grates because it looked a little stronger than removing the 1 & 3 & 5 grates. Personal opinion really.

You'll even be more impressed if you get something stuck inside your impeller and can get your hand in to remove it....

I am happy that I put a 17/29 on my ski, I did the mod to the intake grate too... R-12x

As the others said, good improvement coming out of the hole and especially with a passenger pulling out of turns is improved. Mid range is where I most noticed mine.

If you have a F model, mod your ride plate for a better ride.
