Yamaha Oil Filters Crossed Over and Measured with Pics
I got a number on a filter from Riva and then crossed that over to a Mobil 1.
They use the Wix filters. They are good filters but Mobil 1 and Amsoil is better.
Here are some pics and measurements.
The Wix is 9oz.
The seal is 62.15mm inside diameter and 69.20mm outside diameter.
The mobil 1 is 11.75 oz. There is a big difference between them as far as build quality.
Mobil 1 wins hands down.
The seal on the Mobil 1 is:
60.25mm inside diameter
69.40mm outside diameter
You can get either of these locally and in stock.
I went to get a Yamaha filter from my local dealer and he said they have never stocked one but they would order ONE for stock??
And they sell and service jet skis!
Maybe someone could messier up a stock one, or I will try and save they one I remove after tomorrow or Saturday and see which ifs the best as far as the gasket goes.

The Wix was like $8 and $12 for the mobil 1.
There are pics of the stock one cut open somewhere on the net google it and it will come up.
It looks nice but not $20-$30 of better.
Yes its the 1.8L WFO.

For those interested, here is the stock filter and some off brand cross over cut open.
You can see the stock filter is nice.
I am going to get out a spec book and cross over the filter I have found and see about getting one that is longer, by maybe an inch or so.
I have done it with most the cars I have ever driven. I get about 1/2 a quart more into my Hemi with the larger filter.

do some looking into the mobil filter first
its an automotive based filter ie. our little volume oil pumps could struggle with it
i don't think mobil class it as a motor cycle filter it was more designed to be a OEm replacement for Toyota's
i could be wrong but just thought i would do a heads up first do a intergoogle search
