Post HAPPY CANADA DAY! Now payup Ontario and BC!

Well, it's official, HST has started in 2 more provinces.

We must do with less so that the bankers may have more.
We must do with less so the corporations may have more.
We must do with less so the government may have more.
We must do with less so the chronic debt welshers may have more.
We must do with less so the elites may have more.

Gas went up 8-10 cents over night...

not the end of the world. It wont last past the next election. I buy most stuff from the states anyways, Canada is just making it more of an easy choice to cross border shop.

As appealing as it is to shop across the border, I'm sure it's not so good for our economy... this kinda reminds me of a discussion Docside had with other members in the GH community about buying his RXP state side vs in Canada. And sadly, I think HST is here to stay for a long time. The government is quite happy to receive all that new cash. They don't like giving that up.

My understanding is that they are locked in for four years, other wise they have to pay the fed 4 billion dollars back. They cannot even adjust the rate for 2.

I wish I could support the Canadian economy, but money in my pocket is money in my pocket, so Ill continue to go south until Canada smartens up!! And I figure the next election one of the parties will promise to get rid of the HST and it will be a landslide vote to get them in!
    but we will see.

Doing the right thing is only a guideline. If enough people shop across the border, the govt. will eventually get off their duff's and act on it, but for now... I feel there is nothing wrong with saving a buck or two across the border! Not only is it cheaper, but better selection/more availability as well.
