Problems problems problems seadoo 97 gsx!

been through my third top end. Dealer tried to tank tune today says it still sticking. And that the problem is either piston clearance, or cooling. I doubt piston clearance. The problem seems to be mostly in the pto cylinder. I thought it was a fuel issue, dealer says no. no detonation on pistons. Damage to skirt of piston and cylinder.

well did he even bother to open up the carbs or replace the fuel system before trying the 2 or 3rd top end? sounds like hes taking you to the cleaners. If hes such a great mechanic I think that he would have tried to at least check the pipe for blockage or open up the carbs to see if the filters plugged.

What is your reason for thinking a test tank is no good? My thought is they are very useful when trying to get a ski close to dialed in. Yes they are not as accurate as water testing but having all your tools handy is much easier than having to pull the ski out of the water everytime. A tank is perfect for diagnosing a cooling issue at WOT.

Are you still running the oil pump or running pre mix? Have you verified that the jets are correct in both carbs? So the dealer ran the ski until the the piston started seizing for the 3rd time today??? There is no excuse for that when its in a test tank IMO** A Inferred Temp gun will tell you exatly whats going on in each Cylinder as far as cooling goes.

agree, if there is a melt down starting you willl see the exhaust gas temp start to raise and you SHUT it down.

But as for your issue, thats odd, could there be an issue with the head it self? squish factor or something?
