Anyone else get this kind of speed on a 1200R with no engine mods (except cat delete)

So, I recently bought a 2000 GP1200R with only 94 hours on it.

My dad and I did the necessary mods to get rid of cavitation, improve acceleration/speed, etc..

R&D Aquavein scoop grate (double bar, not the pro single bar)
    R&D Pump Shoe seal kit
    Solas 13/19 impeller
    R&D D plate, cat removal
Sealed up everything tight with marine grade caulk
dad gave me a ride plate he used to have on his GPR before he upgraded, which is angled a bit to give it some more top speed (at least that's how he explained it)

So anyway, I get the expected improvements in acceleration, and this thing seems like a rocket!

So I take my Droid phone with GPS Speedo that works off Google Maps, and go for a little run...
Conditions were ideal: low 70s, low humidity, 1/3 tank of gas, calm water with some ripples

And I rip off a run with a peak of 67.02 MPH! The GPS track showed an average mid 65s with that spike to 67....

I even checked it with a different GPS speedo app on my phone and ran 66 MPH (less sophisticated app, just records the top speed)

Now that seems pretty dang fast for the mods we did...

Anyone else see this kind of speed from no engine mods? Did I get a "ringer"?? I know that 67 wasn't sustained and was just a peak...

I know stockers ran 62-63, I guess I wasn't expecting that much of a jump

    congrats!
the prop and ride plate gave you the gains. The grate for better hook up...
    +1 to your Dad!

speed is in the hull set up. you addressed a few things here that did it for ya!

Good numbers! Yes with just a good modded ride plate 67-69mph is possible.

Sounds good...maybe this winter I go 1390, triples, and get that baby up past 80...gotta do the mods for high speed though, don't want bucked off at 80 MPH

Been there man...tripples 1390cc+. Actually you can run 80mph+ with just a 1390cc single pipe, there are even some good ported 1300cc single pipes that will run 80mph.
