    MODS - Best Bang for your Buck!

    I just recently purchased a 2009 Ultra 260x. I primarily use this craft on lakes and rivers and I'm looking for a little more. Where do I start? Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

    If you want just a little more top speed, and are willing to trade some stability in the chop, I think the biggest bang for your bolt on buck comes from the following:

    1) add 1 or 2 degree pump wedge (it changes slightly the nozzle angle raising bow);

    2) switch stock ride plate for custom ride plate (also raises bow);

    3) remove any excess silicone blobs left from factory in and around intake and "fill in" ride plate bolt holes to minimize drag;

    4) always use at least 90 octane, minimum.

    There are many other things you can do. But these things are relatively cheap and easy and may yield 2 to 3mph+ depending on ride conditions. You just may trade some stability at high speed in chop (although opinions vary).
