Hello, I would like to know if there is any special procedure to check the ignition coil on a 1999 Polaris SLTX 1050cc.

    Thank you

What do you mean by special?

It can be tested with an ohm meter. Primary= black/with white stripe to yel/brn....blk/wht to blk/blue and blk/wht to blk/grn all should be 0.35 ohms.

Secondary= each plug wire with plug boot installed to ground, should be 6000- 7000 ohms

Sorry I bothered you but i found everything i needed on this forum. It seems my ignition system is fine but if you have an idea why the third cylinder is mis-firing that would be a great help. My machine will never go more than 5000 RPM

How did you determine which cylinder was misfiring?

Does this engine still have the original ignition system, or the Ignition System Update Kit?

Is it limited to 5000RPM when on the trailer, or only in the water?

No bother. So the #3 plug wire measured 6-7000 ohms to ground ?
    Have you checked compression ?

My engine starts fine and i checked both the ignition system and the carbs their fine as well. Im having a problem with my third cylinder at around 50% throttle. At 50% throttle my first two cylinders fine but my third cylinder switches on and off. After 50% throttle my third cylinder just cuts off and i cant get past 5000 rpm. Do you know what the problem could be? Thank you.

I think you have your answer already.

Install the Ignition System Update Kit. Part number is 2873356 for the 1050cc 1999 engine.

$300 is about the right price.

I am fairly sure that is the correct part number for the 1999 1050 engine Ignition System Update Kit.
