    can the jet pump from a 97 SPX work on a 97 GTX

    I just bought a used jet pump to replace my seized pump. It is a jet pump from a low hours, freshwater, SPX.

    looking at the Specs I found it is the same thing, both have a 787 motor, and the only difference is in the pitch if the impeller.

    SPX = progressive pitch 16-23°

    GTX = progressive pitch 17-25°

    I gather that I will loose some top end speed? but will there be any other repercussions if I use the SPX impeller on my GTX?

    No other problems, other than I think you have the pitches backward? You will probably hit the rev limiter if you have the pitches correct.

    okay thanks, specs are from the service manual so they should be correct

    I'm going to try and remove the impeller off the old seized pump. The shop that first looked at it tried and said it could not be removed. I didn't have the proper tool to try and remove it myself, so I ordered one, should have it by the week-end. so we will see if I can.

    If it has never been off, BRP uses gobs of Loctite. Heat up the impeller shaft with a torch. Then try to break it loose. Standard threads. Good luck!
