    fuel selector valve.

I disassembled the fuel selector valve on my 94 SL650 and have a question. Is the little plastic piece supposed to come out with the stem or stay inside the valve? Mine did not come out with the valve when I took it apart. I am having a slight problem with the engine bogging when I apply full throttle from idle. If I just jam it wide open it bogs but if I open the throttle more slowly (maybe 1 to 1 1/2 seconds from idle to full throttle it goes fine) The ski runs great otherwise. I also noticed when I got it home today that there was some gas leaking from the water separator. I am just trying to figure out if these are causing the slight bogging problem. I have already replaced all fuel lines and added the triple pump. I am just trying to narrow it down before I decide to remove and rebuild the carbs.

Fuel leaks of any amount inside the hull are dangerous.

Get it fixed so there are zero fuel fumes inside the hull.

Have the carburetors been taken apart and cleaned internally?

can't answer the question, but get the carbs off and rebuild them. Better to do that then to have to replace a piston.

    Fix your fuel leak.

    Rebuild the carbs regardless

What plastic piece do you speak of? The only plastic piece on the petcock is the knob.

I think just the bowl was loose on the water separator. I have a different one on the way anyways, the newer model with the red float ring inside it. I have not rebuilt the carbs yet, but that is going to happen here shortly.
