I have a 1999 Yamaha XL 1200 I did a compression test on the motor only to find that the front and rear cylinders were getting a reading of 30 psi and the center was at 100 psi I was told that it is a common problem with the Yamaha's. I don't want to invest money in rebuilding the engine if this is going to happen again. The ski has 57 hours on it. Is there anything else that could cause the low readings? How difficult would it be to rebuild the top end? I do have tools and some experience. The local dealer wants $3,700.00 to rebuild the motor which I think is astronomical! Any advice will be well taken.
