    95 slt top speed questions?

ok i have two 95 slt 750s just had to put a mag piston and cylinder used in one, did reeds and rebuilt carbs on both skis along with triple outlet pump off polaris tripple sleds, they seem to run great, and i just figgured out the mfd on both they were not working but thanks to the info on this site i replaced the 1/4 amp fuses and boom both started working, but sense i didnt buy these skis new the mfd on both say 43 to 44 mile an hour top speed i was just wondering if that is about right for top speeds on these things or are they supposed to go faster? they do stay right with my buddys zxi 1100 kawi

MFD aren't very accurate. It will normally run around 46-48 MPH.

What RPM do they max out at?

I have a '94 SLT 750 that I recently rebuilt and got running. Runs great. The top speed my MFD shows is 41mph at 6200 rpm. I'm thinking it's reading a few low... plus I'm running extra rich which is probably costing me a couple mph's too. I have a spare MFD... I should hook it up and see if it works.

So you don't sound too far off.

6250-6300 tops. 48-50. mph.. thats it.. I had Vortex Flame arrestors on and a OP head on.. At the time I didn't realize i had to run 93 with that head! opps.. I didnt even check for the bigger jets required either.. I know better now.. Thats on glass with 1 160lb person on it. with the wind at my back.lol Never got it above 6300. every once in a while it would flash 6300. usually 6250 was the highest RPM. Check it with a GPS. I bet it will say 44 MPH.

huh so the mfd is just ball park then? the rpms for both skis read between 6000 to like 6200 depending on water conditions when i had a buddy on one that wighs the same as me the skis were dead even with each other even from a dig. i will try to get a gps from a buddy and see what that says think im goin out sunday again, but so far does the rpms and mfd mile per hour sound about right? friends zxi 1100 speedo dont work or i would see what his says when we race but seems like that only has 2 to 3 mph on me.

A 750 should be running around 6300 RPM at WOT. (on smooth water)

Normally the MFD reads higher than actual speed. So some have dubbed it the" Dreamometer".

I would guess it should read in the 46-48 MPH range normally. Obviously not as fast in rough water.
