    1996 Zxi900 Engine Re-Build Questions

This thing was ran out of oil after the tank hose fell off, then lost compression in the mag cylinder. My question is, can I just re-build the top end or should I go through the entire engine?

Would be best to tear down the entire motor to check for any other damage? Does it still start and run or is it seized?

In order to do the top end you'll take the head and cylinder jug out anyway. At that point you can inspect the crank for excessive play and determine a crank is also required. If no excessive play is observed than I'd recommend a top end only.
