    2007 RXT (hood shock)

I purchased my RXT with 10hrs on it,and the plastic cowling that the hood shock fits through was broke,so original owner had a new one installed, first time out hood shock pops free,so reinstalled hoodshock(with several zip-ties as reinforcement)and it worked for about 5 times and has popped free........is there a suitable remedy that would work. Have not looked that closely at the mechanical operation of it,but would something have to be modified to get it to work better?.......something is not built the way it should be.......thanks BRP!!!

I've got the same thing...on the same ski (RXT 2007) Just picked up the ski last week and noticed the strut was off yesterday when cleaning it.
I need to look into this as well.

I drilled a hole to top of the shocker, and put a bolt through it.
    Never came loose again.
I must say it's a hell of a job putting the shocker back in the bracket.

So instead of using the 'ball / socket' connector you put a bolt though the entire mount?

    hummm

yeah getting shock compressed I have it down using a rear tiedown strap a few ratchets and it will compress no problem.

Just drill a hole through the ball end of the shock and remove the ball from the bracket. Then bolt it together. Its the only thing that worked on mine.

To compress the shock, use a 1/2" rachet and put the 1/2" drive part into the slot on the top bracket that it will fit into, and use the rachet to compress. Makes it an easy job.

    hood shock

I had this problem on my RXP replaced the small hardware pieces and staightened the linkage that solved the problem. There is a bushing and bolt that wear. I now have the same problem on my wifes RXT ordered parts from this site. The rachet makes putting the shock on a snap.
