Why is the carbon ring setup smaller on the 2005 RXT?

Jim (OU812) helped me swap out the carbon rings on the skis today. We went through the hassle of removing the pump and drive shaft on the 2005 RXT and we found out the whole carbon ring setup is smaller than the 2004 RXP. I bought two carbon rings, boots, and support hats on here from a member only to find out the setup won't work on the 2005 RXT.

How come the setup along with the drive shaft is smaller on the 2005 RXT compared to the 2004 RXP and other model skis?

not sure as to why it is smaller, but i can tell you this. All 130hp 155hp 185hp, and 2005 215 rxt run the smaller drive shaft and pump. it wasn't until 06 that BPR changed the RXT out for the bigger drive shaft... you can change your 05 rxt pump and drive shaft out for a 06+ RXP drive shaft, pump, impeller, and carbon runing and bellow boot. The big plus to swapping to the bigger drive shaft and pump would be for more choices when changing props.... hope this helps...

You can't just swap shaft, boot and all that because the thru-hull fitting is a smaller diameter than the 06+ ski's. The shaft splines are all the same size as the newer ski's so there's no plus to changing out. Just an FYI..
