Ignition update kit on 99 SLX......Where do the different wires go?

OK, does the new gray wire go where the old tan wire went? Where does the black wire with the ring connector from the new CDI go? How about the left over black wire from the stator with the bullet connector go? And lastly...... I think where am I supposed to apply the nyogel?

Did the kit not come with instructions?

Gray wire from CDI goes to Tan terminal on most models.

CDI Black wire goes to ground screw inside electrical box. Make sure it really is grounded.

Black wire from the stator goes to the Black terminals.

Thin Black wire from battery negative to electrical box is disconnected and taped off - no longer used.

Once everything is working, Nyogel dielectric grease gets smeared over all electrical connections to prevent moisture from reaching the metal contacts.

Yes it did come with instructions, but it did not seem to cover the items which I questioned.

    1) So how do I make sure that it is really grounded. The only ground that I could find is the one which I was instructed to cut.
    2) The black wire from the stator has a bullet connector on it, do I need to cut off the bullet connector and install a female blade connector and plug it onto the terminal board?

    THANKS A BUNCH!!!!!!!!

Which part number is your update kit?

The ground for the entire electrical box works through the stator Black wire to the engine block, so that must be completed first. Not sure why it is a bullet connector...

Ground check. Disconnect battery positive cable.

Check ohms between battery negative post and CDI Black wire. Should be zero ohms. All Black wires and metal ground strips in the electrical should measure zero ohms to battery negative.

PN on the CDI is 4010885, pn for the ignition update on the order is 2873356. The bullet connector from the stator is female and originally plugged into the CDI box on the system when I opened it up.

I don't need to have a battery installed to check the ohm reading do I?

Just to be clear - you are changing both the Stator and the CDI to the new parts from the Update Kit - correct?

You are not using the original stator with the new CDI - correct?

Ohm check can be done from end of battery negative cable, without the actual battery.
