    One Mean 1200 Single Pipe

Ok guys just have to brag a little about my 1200cc single. This started as a low buck project build that I've had fun doing. My goal now is to make it run 80mph+ in good air with Tabs

I've had alot of help from Ben Herman on this ski and recently had Water Woody port the 1200 cylinders which woke it up even more. Its now a very strong accelerating single pipe and can pull a big prop in the heat. A 14/23.5 dynafly from impros to be exact. With a RAD of only 93% today 90 degrees + It only turns it 7000rpm on a heat soaked engine. Even on this tall prop it still can beat an RXPX in a drag race....did it many times today.

Went to ride with other skis today...had already shimmed tabs more from .160" to .180" in the rear....but saw how rough the water was and decided to lower my ride plate angle too...put a .030" washer on the rear to tighten it up some. Played all day racing in choppy water speeds were in the 70-74mph range depending on the water.

At the end of the day on the way back to the launch in smoother water the buzzer went off and was clicking off 75.5 -76mph on the seat! So I decided to stretch it out and went 77.5mph!!! I was thinking to myself how many 1200cc single pipers run that with handling??

Wonder what it will run on a good cool morning on a cold engine???

yep, porting is the way to go for top speed, but hows the gas milege, what are you getting on a tank and are you premix, Ronn?

The porting on this 1200 added alot more midrange pull and some on top too. But really the acceleration is most noticable and can now pull a little taller prop. Never measured gas mileage but its near the same as I'm still running the same jetting just another 1/2 turn out on the screws now. Now I know I the engine can also "pull" more fuel too despite what jets you run. I'm sure on a 1300 the porting would be different.

I'm die hard oil injection from now on.....done the premix in the past and just wasn't worth it to me...uses alot more oil. Some of the fastest 2-strokes still run the oil injection.

Yea! I'm just amazed the ski ran 77mph+ at the end of beating it all day in 90degree summer heat! and its just a little 1200!
