Pro extended pump set up on a SL or SLX

I picked up a pinky size stick on my buddy's 95 SLX today. it immediately toasted the coupler and drive shaft. I have a new coupler installed and don't have a spare extended drive shaft.
I was wondering how many people are running the short drive shaft and this configuration. Pretty simple just put the extension after the stator and use the short shaft. Might have to do it to get back on the water ASAP. Anyone running like this? Thoughts?

The jet pump will take slightly longer to hook up after jumping a wave. Other than that, it should work fine.

The stock Pro 785 jet pumps have the extension after the stator Not because it was better, but because they needed to run the shorter drive shaft to keep it together at 8,000RPM.

I have to wonder if he'll even notice the difference OK, I'm go do it this way and see if he notices. I was gonna tell him but it should be interesting to see, kinda like a blind study. I will tell him eventually though.

I sprayed the extension and stator with penetrating oil. I rebuilt a pentagon fuel pump while I was waiting for the oil to soak into the corrosion holding the pump parts together. So the rubber mallet wasn't cutting it and the extension came off the stator once I upgraded to a leather mallet. Man that thing was stuck. I covered all the matting surfaces with never seize so it will come a part next time I have to get in there.

Pro 785 pump set up on the 95 SLX. I had my buddy pick up the ski on his way home from work. I told him to rip it , and beat on it. He called and said it seems faster. The lake was calm with no waves to jump. Sounds like he's happy

Faded yes broke no. I don't know if he even looks at it. I can't wait to try it for myself. I know I had 50mph on the dream-o-meter riding double before the stick jamming incident. I would think it would be slower off the line anyway swapping from the metal coupler to the big rubber dampening coupler.

yupper, all stock 95 SLX tail cone extension and four blade progressive. I'd have a R&D 650 intake grate and a six vane stator on there in a heartbeat if it were mine.
