    Pump rebuild...how much $?

Took the pump off today and noticed some play. Actually Jim (OU812) did. Took the cone off and there was some water inside.

How much is a rebuild kit? How many hours labor is reasonable? Can the dealership do it?

dont let the stealership do it, its pretty simple. I believe there is supposed to be some play, in and out.
unless the bearings are seized or rusted, all you will need is the impeller removal too, once its out, you just remove the shaft and inspect the bearings and shaft.

I had water on my pumps in the past but it never hurt anything, I just replaced the O ring and changed the oil

take it apart like i said and snap some pics, I noticed you want to buy a pump, but this is not the answer just yet, unless you want easy way out and not fix your own stuff,
maybe the shaft is worn, take some pics,

Yea back and forth play is thrust which is OK. You don't want radial play(up and down).
You should definitely try to do this yourself... if not for saving money, the experience and knowledge is priceless.

surprised there's not a "how to" on this.at 170 hrs, mine starting to get noisy.
I know you need a press to do this, but shop manual does not go into detail on this repair.
    (Brian)bigdaddyrxp has done his,maybe he'll chime in.

Mine had water in it as well, but the bearing looked fine...

    From another thread:

The parts that you want to replace are: 7-8-9 ( 9 depending on its condition) 11-12-13 ( 13 depending on corrosion) 14-15- (2 of) 22. The bearing is press fit onto the shaft (part #6), then the shaft & bearing assembly are pressed into the pump housing. You will also need a tube of pump grease. In my experience... these front seals start to leak around 150 hrs.

You can get prices on these parts here: http://partsfinder.onlinemicrofiche....artsfinder.htm
If you were to have a dealer rebuild the pump... they should not charge you for more than 1 hour of labor (as long as you take them the pump out of the ski).

He had water in the cone which was a very tight seal & the grease was partially gray. The water got through the front seal & the play in the pump is border lined "do it now or 10 hrs from now" situation. I would do it now & for get about it.
