Possibly purchasing jet ski -- hull damage

I am looking into purchasing a 2002 SeaDoo GTX DI for around $3300. The hull has some damage, however the seller claims it has no effect on the ski and water does not enter.

Should I proceed with the purchase and repair the bottom myself? Is it worth it?

buy a 4-tec instead..DI's are uber expensive to service and competent techs on them e few and far between.

After owning a 2 stroke and now 4tecs, I would defintely buy a 4stroke. They start every time and you can ride them for hours with minimal maintenance. Far less wrenching than a 2 stroke. You can probably find a 4 stroke for close to that. Non-supercharged 4tecs seem to run forever.

On the other hand, there are quite a few posts on fiberglass repair. That looks like something you could pretty easily take care of yourself. Just do some searching and get an idea if that is something you think you are capable of fixing.

I haven't seen the ski in person so I can't get the full scope on the damage, but since the owner says it is only cosmetic, I am thinking I'd be safe patching it with MarineTex? Is there anything else I need to know since this is a SeaDoo?

Sounds like that is the route to go with these types of issues.

Basically looking for peace of mind knowing water won't enter.
